historical poster; chocolate :)

  1. My historical poster was created to inform people about the history of chocolate. Almost everyone knows what chocolate is and how it tastes but do they know where it was first discovered and its first use? I do, and so will anyone else once they see this poster. Not only does it give the viewer a great deal of information but it also looks interesting enough to grab their attention. I used actual pictures of chocolate along with caramel and chocolate solid colors. It grabs your attention and pushes you to crave for a piece of chocolate. My design follows the rule of thirds. The main word of emphasis lays in the upper third, it is also the larges word with great contrast to the background. The middle level is dedicated towards the informational text on chocolate. It takes up more than one third but at the point where the text starts it is aligned with the handle of the hot chocolate cup. Since the informational text is all in one spot I divided up the sentences and set them into a unique shape. This shape underlines the title of the poser and puts emphasis onto the chocolate in the lower left. The strawberries were repeated on the edges of the middle text to keep it from looking too plain. I used an interesting texture; which is a close up of a chocolate bar, at the bottom to lure the viewer to the main object. Steam swirls out of the hot chocolate which creates flow leading to the title.
